Small nuclear regulatory RNAs








The nuclei of human cells contain several hundreds of 60-450 nucleotide-long, metabolically stable small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs). In the form of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), the snRNAs function in all steps of human gene expression, ranging from maintenance of the structural and functional integrity of the genome, regulation of transcription initiation and elongation to post-transcriptional modification and nucleolytic processing of primary RNA transcripts. Our research group has a long-standing interest in the understanding of the structural and functional diversity of the complex and fascinating world of human snRNPs.

Organism studied :

S. cerevisiae and mammalian cells.
